Board of Governors

The college board of governors directs policies and oversees the business direction. The Board of Governors is comprised of 6 board members:

Ian Johnstone – Board Chair

Ian Johnstone is lawyer and a former police officer. He and some of the other lawyers at the firm act as counsel to police chiefs, police service boards, provincial ministries of public safety, as well as on behalf of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police. Ian also acts for private sector employers and various government agencies as employer counsel for a wide range of issues.

Sharon Cochran – Board Member

Sharon Cochran is a senior administrator with extensive experience in the post-secondary education system. Sharon has several years of Board experience and currently serves as Board Trustee at both the Lakeridge Health and the Abilities Centre. She is also the board chair of Kinark Child and Family Services.

Shashi Bhatia – Board Member

Shashi Bhatia is a leader and a community builder. She is a founding Chair of the Indo-Canadian Cultural Association of Durham (ICCAD). Ms. Bhatia has served on many provincial and federal quasi-judicial boards and tribunals. She is currently a board member of Durham Police Board.

Shaun Carter – Board Member

Shaun Carter is an Inspector with the Durham Regional Police Service and he is the officer in charge at West Division where he leads many officers and engages with community partners on a daily basis.

The members of the board come from diverse background and provide support on Policy, Academic, Administration, Community Engagement and International Relations.
